Abdallah Replaces Injured Vigney, Glory 41 Event Finalized
One of the key cogs in the heavyweight contender tournament of
Glory 41: Holland has been replaced. American knockout artist
Xavier Vigney suffered an injury in training and had to withdraw
from his first-round battle against D’Angelo Marshall (14-2, 8
KOs). In his stead will be Mohamed Abdallah (12-1, 5 KOs).
Rounding out the contender bracket will be a showdown between Giannis Stoforidis (19-5, 11 KOs) and Anderson “Braddock” Silva (40-16-1, 25 KOs). The two winners will meet in the main event of Glory 41: Holland, with the tourney king being granted a crack at reigning champion Rico Verhoeven later in the year.
Egypt’s Hesdy Gerges (49-181, 23 KOs) will collide with towering
Chi Lewis-Parry (8-1, 4 KOs) in a heavyweight co-feature while
China’s Chenglong Zhang (38-5, 11 KO, fighting out of China) as he
takes on Dutch striker Wilson Sanches Mendes (5-2-1) in a
featherweight bout to round out the main card.
The Glory 41 SuperFight Series card, which will follow the “main” card, will be anchored by Verhoeven (50-10, 14 KOs) battling Ismael Lazaar (30-2-2, 15 KOs) in a non-title affair. Robin Van Roosmalen (37-7, 21 KOs), a former lightweight and featherweight champion for the promotion, will take on Glory 39 tournament winner Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao (156-35-2, 25 KOs) for the vacant Glory featherweight title in the SuperFight Series co-feature.
Rounding out the SuperFight Series marquee will see welterweight Murthel Groenhart (64-22-3, 37 KOs) fight Alan Scheinson (48-4, 37 KOs); lightweights Michael Duut (40-6, 17 KOs) and Mourad Bouzidi (79-22-2, 34 KOs) will collide; Tyjani Beztati (12-1, 5 KOs) will oppose Youssef Assouik (40-4, 20 KOs), also at lightweight; and Zakaria Zouggary (28-3-1, 15 KOs) and fellow featherweight Yetkin Ozkul (69-8, 28 KOs) will lock horns.
