By Mike Sloan Mar 30, 2017
Showtime announced on Thursday afternoon that powerful heavyweight knockout artist Luis Ortiz (27-0, 23 KOs) will square off against Derric Rossy (31-12, 15 KOs) in the featured undercard bout of the Andre Berto vs. Shawn Porter event later this month. The two will lock horns in a 10-round affair and will serve as the final precursor to the Showtime-televised main card.

Also slated for the undercard will be Amanda Serrano (31-1-1, 23 KOs) against, though her opponent hasn’t been revealed yet. Serrano is the only woman and first-ever Puerto Rican boxer to win a world title in five different weight classes. Rounding out the prelims will be Jose Miguel Borrego (11-0, 10 KOs) taking on 2012 Spanish Olympian Jonathan Alonso (12-0, 4 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight skirmish; and Julian Sosa (7-0-1, 2 KOs) ’16 Haitian Olympian Richardson Hitchins (1-0, 1 KO) in a four-round 140-pound fight, though neither man has an opponent as of press time.

As previously reported, Jermell Charlo (28-0, 13 KOs), one of boxing’s best young champions, will be back in action when he defends his WBC super welterweight title against Charles Hatley (26-1-1, 18 KOs). The two will collide in the co-feature, which will be televised live on Showtime from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Showtime Championship Boxing card, which is presented by Premier Boxing Champions, will be broadcast live beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
