Cedric Doumbe to Defend Welterweight Crown Against Nieky Holzken at Glory 42

By Mike Sloan Apr 19, 2017
Glory announced on Wednesday that reigning welterweight champion Cedric “The Best” Doumbe will put his title on the line against a man he knows well: Nieky Holzken. The two rivals will collide in the main event of Glory 42: Paris on June 10 at AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France.

Doumbe (66-4-1, 39 KOs) scored a sizeable upset last December at Glory: Collision as he systematically picked apart Holzken to snatch away the title. Holzken (90-12, 46 KOs) won the title and had defended it successful three consecutive times before running into Doumbe and hasn’t fought since. Doumbe, meanwhile, followed up his title-winning performance with a sensational defense against Yoann Kongolo at Glory 39 in March.

Glory 42: Paris will also feature a four-man one-night lightweight contenders tournament, though the participants have not yet been revealed.

The Glory 42 SuperFight Series undercard is slated to be headlined by Kongolo (64-9, 46 KOs) taking on Antoine Pinto (132-36-1, 77 KOs) in a special welterweight attraction. Jimmy Vienot (56-12, 27 KOs) will collide with fellow welterweight Casey Greene (5-7, 2 KOs) while Dylan Salvador, Nicolas Wamba and Zinedine Hameur-Lain will compete as well, though their opponents have not been announced.

Exact details of the U.S. broadcast of both the Glory 42 SuperFight Series undercard and Glory 42: Paris main card will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
