Rising contender Miguel Flores was expected to have a tough time against Ryan Kielczewski on Friday night, and that ended up being true as the unbeaten Flores had to dig deep in order to win a 10-round decision.

The matchup headlined the latest edition of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN and Flores was just a step quicker than Kielczewski and landed the cleaner overall punches. The crowd inside the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y. was electrified as the two featherweights tore into each other in spurts, creating great pockets of action throughout.

Kielczewski never backed down from the heavily favored Flores (25-2, 7 KOs) and forced him to fight when he didn’t want to. Overall, though, Flores (21-0, 9 KOs) was the better man and was awarded a unanimous decision via tallies of 97-93 and 96-94 (twice).

In the televised co-feature, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Yordenis Ugas (16-3, 7 KOs) dominated previously-unbeaten Jamal James over 10 rounds. Ugas landed the harder, more telling blows throughout though the late replacement hung tough until the end. Ugas won via tallies of 99-91, 98-92 and 96-94. James fell to 20-1 with 9 KOs for his effort.

The event was the final one of the current deal PBC has with ESPN.
