Glory to Implement Bonus System Beginning with Friday’s Event in Virginia
Kickboxing promotion Glory announced on Tuesday that starting at
Friday’s event in Virginia its fighters will be awarded with
post-fight bonuses, similar to what the UFC has been doing in MMA
for years.
The bonuses will be “Fighter of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night,” which each bonus coming in at $5,000. These awards will be for both the Glory numbered main cards and SuperFight Series undercards and will be decided by Glory’s Talent Operations following the conclusion of the final bout and announced during the post-fight press conference.
The “Fighter of the Night” bonus, it must be noted, will go to the
combatant that demonstrates the most impressive performance, win,
lose or draw, according to a Glory statement.
“With the highest knockout rate in combat sports, [Glory] thought it was time to reward our incredible fighters for the level of excitement that only they can bring,” said Glory CEO Jon Franklin. “We are even looking at implementing a system that includes a fan voting component down the line.”
Glory 32: Virginia will go down on Friday at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk and will be anchored by featherweight champion Serhiy Adamchuk (33-5, 14 KOs) defending his title against Gabriel Varga (27-3, 8 KOs). The main card will stream live on ESPN3 beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
The Glory 32 SuperFight Series undercard will see Chi Lewis-Parry (6-1, 2 KOs) taking on Maurice Greene (4-2, 2 KOs) in a heavyweight feature attraction. The action will stream live on UFC Fight Pass starting at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
