A few hours after HBO brings fight fans a special event from London where Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook will face-off for Golovkin’s middleweight titles, the cable giant will return with another card loaded with action.
At Friday’s weigh-ins, all of the main card combatants came in on the money, giving the event the final green light before the fists begin to fly. Cuadras (35-0-1, 27 KOs) captured the title two years ago by stopping Wisaksil Wangek in the eighth and has successfully defended it six times but he hasn’t taken anybody in the same league as Gonzalez, who is a massive betting favorite. The Mexican weighed in officially at 114.8 pounds.
Gonzalez (45-0, 38 KOs) has turned into the arguably the greatest fighter in the world pound-for-pound. He’s a ruthless knockout artist who has already captured the WBC flyweight, WBA light flyweight and WBA minimumweight championships. “Chocolatito” came in officially at 114.6 pounds in his bid to win a world title in a fourth different weight division.
The action will be televised live on HBO beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
