HBO to Re-Air Golovkin-Lemieux, Full Undercard Announced for Saturday
HBO will be the home to Saturday night’s junior welterweight world
championship clash between WBO champ Terence Crawford and
challenger Dierry Jean. The telecast will begin at 9:30 p.m.
ET/6:30 p.m. PT, but the cable giant will re-air both the Roman
Gonzalez-Brian Viloria and Gennady Golovkin-David Lemieux battles
first before going live with Crawford-Jean.
Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs), who is the former WBO lightweight champion as well, will look to keep his perfect professional ledger intact when he takes on Dean. Though “Bud” is the prohibitive favorite, Jean (29-1, 20 KOs) should give him one of his toughest tests to date. The Haitian-born Canadian once challenged for the IBF 140-pound title, but he dropped a close decision to Lamont Peterson.
On early Wednesday morning, the full undercard to the Crawford-Jean event was revealed:
Unbeaten heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr (25-0, 17 KOs) will take on Raphael Zumbano (37-11-1, 30 KOs) in an eight-rounder; welterweight Mikael Zewski (26-1, 20 KOs) will fight Ayi Bruce (23-11, 9 KOs) over 10 rounds; former IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich (19-1-1, 9 KOs) will lock horns with Aldimar Silva (19-8, 10 KOs) in an eight round affair; Alex Saucedo (18-0, 13 KOs) will meet Angel Martinez (12-7-1, 8 KOs) in a six round welterweight clash; Julian Rodriguez (10-0, 9 KOs) will face Alvaro Ortiz (7-4-1, 5 KOs) in a six round junior welterweight bout; junior middleweight Zsolt Daranyi Jr. (4-0, 4 KOs) will battle Sean Wilson (5-15-1, 1 KO) in a four-rounder; and Alfredo Martinez (4-0, 2 KOs) will go at it with Darin Hampton (1-1) in a four-round junior welterweight encounter.
