Legacy FC 54 Weigh-in Results: Nunes, Lovato Jr. Cleared for Title Tilt
Legacy Fighting Championship returns to the Hard Rock Hotel and
Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday night and its coming at the
MMA world strong with an intriguing night of action. Headlining
Legacy FC 54 is the middleweight championship between Marcelo
Nunes and Rafael
Lovato Jr.
The event will be televised live on AXS TV starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
At Thursday’s weigh-ins, both Brazilian jiu jitsu champions came in
ready, both easily making the 185-pound limit. Lovato Jr., who has
captured gold at the Jiu Jitsu World Championships, the Pan-Ams,
No-Gi Worlds and countless other events, stepped to the scale and
nailed it, weighing officially 184.4 pounds.
Not to be outdone, Nunes, who has also captured several titles in the BJJ world, enters the bout 5-0 as a pro with all of his wins coming via submission or TKO. He was slightly lighter than his foe; he clocked in at 182.4 pounds.
The rest of the fighters weren’t as disciplined at the scales. Aaron Robinson came in a staggering eight pounds overweight and was fined 30% of his purse. He and opponent Justin Rader agreed to fight at a catchweight. Undercard fighters Adrian Hudson and Chase McDougal both missed the 125-pound limit but agreed to fight anyway.
