Luke Thomas Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by Luke Thomas of MMAFighting.com and SiriusXM Radio.

Breen and Thomas team up to take stock of the grappling world and its inextricable link to mixed martial arts. The two reflect on yesteryear, when Brazilian jiu-jitsu was largely viewed as a channel into vale tudo and discuss the changes in competitive grappling that allow a new generation of grappler, such as Keenan Cornelius, to eschew MMA's overtures and make their money on the mats. Breen and Thomas also discuss why the jiu-jitsu community should court and challenge elite wrestlers and judokas and its immense benefit, not just for gi and no-gi grappling, but for MMA competition as well.

Breen and Thomas also discuss technical evolutions in gi grappling such as the berimbolo and worm guard, the international dissemination of BJJ, the overlooked aspects of Josh Barnett's grappling game, how many sports Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza could excel at, the curious case of Xande Ribeiro and much more.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
