Mike Russell Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by veteran MMA journalist Mike Russell.

Last week, the Washington Business Journal broke the news that a group of 31 investors had purchased a 60 percent stake in World Series of Fighting for a reported $25 million, a surprising number given WSOF's business struggles and place in the MMA landscape. Breen and Russell dig into how WSOF got such a rich valuation, who these new investors are, why they would want to be a part of the MMA game, if the company will be rebranded and role of the promotion's television deal with NBC played in the sale.

Breen and Russell also dig into the long and lurid laundry list of lawsuits and scandals facing WSOF behind the scenes, the critical role Ali Abdel-Aziz has played in the company, who gained the most financially from the promotion and what sorts of free agent deals await former WSOF champions David Branch and Marlon Moraes, who have vacated their titles.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
