PVT Mag 17: 'Bones' is the New Man to Beat

By Marcelo Alonso Apr 6, 2011
Portal do Vale Tudo has just released the 17th edition of PVT Mag, featuring a cover story on the MMA's new phenom, Jon Jones, the man that knocked Mauricio "Shogun" Rua out and took the UFC light heavyweight title.

PVT goes deep inside Jones’ life, showing that "Bones" is more than what he shows in pre-fight interviews and declarations. PVT Mag traces the origin Jones' nickname, the death of his older sister when he was just 12, the tattoos he has to honor her, and where he learned his unorthodox moves.

Also, PVT talks to the big names in MMA, and the legends agree: Jones is the man to be beaten in the UFC.

The piece features exclusive statements from Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Jose Aldo, Junior dos Santos and others as they weigh in on the new champ and a possible superfight between he and middleweight king Anderson Silva.

In "Alonso's Relics," we reflect on one of the most outstanding moments in the history of the sport for Brazil. Pride's "Final Conflict 2003" saw Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Wanderlei Silva take Pride belts on the same night. PVT Mag goes behind the scenes of their victories over Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Brazil's most important reporter of the day, Gloria Maria, went to Japan to show how Japan loved Brazilian fighting idols, and returned with one of the most celebrated stories of Brazilian news show "Fantastico."

PVT Mag also brings the details of Zuffa's acquisition of Strikeforce. Athletes discuss the move and the possible conflicts that could result. What do you think about an Anderson Silva-Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza fight? Or Cain Velasquez-Alistair Overeem? You can dream about those fights and more inside this edition of PVT Mag.
