Marcelo AlonsoApr 17, 2013

In 2001, a simple incident at breakfast before Pride 16 touched off the epic rivalry between Chute Boxe and Brazilian Top Team. Four years later, the conflict reached its climax in the finals of the Pride 2005 Grand Prix, as Mauricio Rua and Wanderlei Silva represented Rudimar Fedrigo's team against BTT's Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona.. With Rua and Nogueira set for a rematch of their all-time classic at UFC 161 in June, PVT Mag 41 takes you back eight years to revisit the bout and discuss the contest with its participants.

This edition also analyzes the potential superfight between Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre. One has the most title defenses in UFC history, while the other has the most UFC wins ever. One is the greatest striker in UFC history, the other, the most effective wrestler ever in the Octagon. These fighting geniuses are polar opposites, so how does one even size up this matchup? PVT Mag 41 goes inside the statistics and talks to the experts about who really rules the sport.

“Alonso's Relics” recalls the third edition of the International Vale Tudo Championship. IVC 3 was staged December 10, 1997, in Sao Paulo, and featured a historic late chapter in the rivalry between luta livre and jiu-jitsu. The night saw BJJ'er Wallid Ismail take out Johil de Oliveira, as well as a heavyweight tournament win by Pedro Otavio, flying the luta livre flag.
