Podcast: Nate Quarry

By Sherdog.com Staff Mar 30, 2014
The UFC career of Nate Quarry illustrates many realities about the sport of mixed martial arts, realities both harsh and uplifting. He felt trapped as a boy growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, and embarked on a rebellious MMA career with no athletic background at an age many fighters today are entering title contention.

From triumphant wins and deflating losses, back injuries and facial reconstructions, management spats and victory laps, "Rock" rode MMA's one-of-a-kind wave. The journey took him from the first season of the Ultimate Fighter to a perilous, infamous title shot against Rich Franklin to memorable career-closing brawls with Tim Creduer and Jorge Rivera.

This week on the Sherdog Radio Network "Rewind," Quarry joins host Jack Encarnacao in the latest Sunday Sitdown to discuss his views on fighter rights and pay, and share the emotional and intense feelings behind his moments in the spotlight, many of them fleeting.
