Sherdog Pick’Em Trends: UFC on Fuel TV 3 Main Card
Ever since he defeated Josh Grispi at UFC 125, expectations for Dustin Poirier have been sky high. The Louisiana native has been given his biggest stage yet at UFC on Fuel TV 3 “Korean Zombie vs. Poirier”, where he will take on Chan Sung Jung in the main event.
The majority of players in Sherdog.com MMA Pick’Em fantasy game have hitched their wagon to the promising Poirier, as 62 percent like him to defeat “The Korean Zombie” on Tuesday.

He will face the most difficult challenge of his career in Jung, who is coming off a shocking knockout of former featherweight No. 1 contender Mark Hominick at UFC 140. The Korean Top Team export also won his UFC debut by submitting Leonard Garcia with the rarely seen twister, avenging a previous loss under the WEC banner to “Bad Boy.” Known for his brawling style, Jung has finished 10 of his 12 victories by knockout or submission.

Stephens last appeared at UFC 136, where he dropped a split decision to former WEC titlist Anthony Pettis. Cerrone suffered his first loss in the Octagon against Nate Diaz at UFC 141 after winning his first four bouts with the promotion.

• Jorge Lopez garnered plenty of attention as Wanderlei Silva’s top pupil heading into his UFC debut, a decision loss to Justin Edwards in September. Pick’Em participants are not swayed by the hype, as 87 percent believe “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7 winner Amir Sadollah will hand Lopez his second straight defeat in a welterweight tussle;
• The vast majority of users (81 percent) like flashy striker Yves Jabouin to get the best of Jeff Hougland in a featherweight scrap. Jabouin has won his last two fights, while Hougland won his UFC debut against Donny Walker last July;
• Igor Pokrajac has won two straight bouts, including a 35-second knockout of Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 140 in December. Sixty-six percent of players like the Mirko Filipovic protégé to continue his momentum in a light heavyweight bout against Fabio Maldonado, who dropped a hard-fought decision to Kyle Kingsbury in his last bout;
• In the closest call on the main card, 53 percent of pickers have sided with Jason MacDonald against Tom Lawlor in a middleweight affair. A veteran of 40 professional fights, “The Athlete” owns notable wins over Chris Leben, Ed Herman and Ryan Jensen. Lawlor has lost three of four, including a first-round submission setback to Chris Weidman at UFC 139.
