Tank Abbott, on “Beatdown,” expressing his disdain for weight classes:
“There’s a whole new generation of people that don’t even know what, in my opinion, is real fighting. After -- this is all in my opinion -- after it was taken over by Dana White, you might as well put skirts on most of those guys [and] high heels. It’s just political nonsense. It’s not, in my opinion, real fighting. … Anybody that wrestles in a weight class or fights in a weight class, to me, should be wearing skirts. Royce Gracie didn’t fight in a weight class. … The guy fought big guys, and yeah, he lost to whoever the guy is. I can’t think of his name. The guy that he lost to, some farmer or something from Iowa [Matt Hughes], the guy that he lost to, if he fought any of the guys that Royce fought in the beginning, they would decapitate him. If Kimo was to fight that guy that fought Royce, [Hughes] would be decapitated. And Royce beat Kimo, so there you go. No weight classes.”
