Tetsuya Yamato to Face Greg Wootton in Lion Fight 26 Headliner

Lion Fight Promotions announced Thursday afternoon that Tetsuya Yamato will defend his super lightweight title against Greg Wootton in the Lion Fight 26 headliner at Foxwoods Resort Casino on Nov. 20.

AXS TV will televise the action live starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Yamato (35-12-1, 23 KOs), who sports some of the nastiest elbows in all of muay Thai, will look to make the first defense of the title he won by stopping Kevin Ross in the second round in March. The Japanese bomber has won multiple muay Thai championships in his career.

Wootton (35-2) holds a win over the great Petboonchu, who is regarded by many as perhaps the sport’s best fighter in the world pound-for-pound. Wootton is expected by quite a few in muay Thai to become of the bests of his era.

The Lion Fight 26 co-main event features Nick Chasteen (4-1) against Turan Hasanov (15-7-1) in what figures to be the stiffest challenge of Chasteen's young career. Also on the card are unbeaten prospects Victor Saravia (4-0), John Nofer (2-0) and Julio Pena (3-0). Pedro Gonzalez (2-1) will be on the card as well.
