On Sept. 24, 2011, the Octagon touched down in Denver for UFC 135. In the main event, newly-crowned Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones defended his belt for the first time, submitting Quinton Jackson in the fourth round.

The co-main event saw Josh Koscheck knock out Matt Hughes at the 4:59 mark of the first round. Koscheck took this fight on short notice, replacing Diego Sanchez after Sanchez withdrew due to a broken hand.

UFC 135 also featured a bevy of notable names like Nate Diaz defeating Takanori Gomi, Mark Hunt beating Ben Rothwell, and Tony Ferguson notching his second UFC win in a prelim fight. The event was also supposed to feature Norifumi Yamamoto taking on Damacio Page, but the bout was scrapped after both fighters suffered injuries.
