Widely recognized as one of the top 10-15 flyweights in the world, Tim Elliott will celebrate his 27th birthday on Christmas Eve.

A state wrestling champion in high school, Elliott entered the mixed martial arts arena in May 2009 and started his career with an inauspicious 0-2-1 record. The Grindhouse MMA representative has won 10 of his past 12 fights since, losing only to two-time world combat sambo champion Ali Bagautinov and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 winner John Dodson. A Wichita, Kan., native he has secured seven of his 10 victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission and owns wins over onetime Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder Jens Pulver, former King of the Cage champion Jared Papazian and Team Tiger Schulmann representative Louis Gaudinot.

Elliott last appeared at UFC 167 in November, when he dropped a unanimous decision to the surging Bagautinov at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The defeat halted his modest two-fight winning streak.
