Tomas Rios Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by Sports on Earth contributor Tomas Rios.

Following Dominick Cruz's groin tear and subsequent vacation of the UFC bantamweight title, Breen and Rios discuss the harrowing injury history of “The Dominator,” how it has disrupted his career and what sort of fighter Cruz will be upon his eventual return. The pair also discuss whether Cruz is historically a better fighter than Urijah Faber, how his past injuries stack up to other notably-injure athletes and whether or not Derrick Rose or Rocco Baldelli is a more apt comparison.

Breen and Rios also look at Cruz's injury in the context of UFC 169's potential drawing power, the history of the UFC's Super Bowl weekend events, how UFC 169 being in New Jersey alongside the Super Bowl will impact interest and how Zuffa must change its promotion of young talent to help new stars blossom in 2014.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
