Tommy Messano Joins Press Row

By Jordan Breen Jun 4, 2014

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the blog. This week, Breen is joined by contributor and founder Tommy Messano.

As UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones continues to politick with the UFC over a new contract, Breen and Messano take on the latest drama in the 205-pound king's career. The pair investigate Jones' sudden interest in facing Daniel Cormier, as opposed to the expected and penciled-in Alexander Gustafsson rematch on Aug. 30, Tuesday's now-infamous deleted Instagram post Jones made, and “Jonny Bones” ongoing, fraught relationship with social media.

Breen and Messano rap on both potential fights, which actually makes more sense for the champion and the UFC, how Daniel Cormier's knee injury factors plays a role in the story, Jones' penchant for bad foreign accents and whether or not Cormier or Gustafsson can be the opponent that helps Jones breakthrough as a bigger pay-per-view star for Zuffa.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
