Travis Browne: I’m an Athlete First, Then a Fighter

By Staff Aug 2, 2012

Travis Browne, on “The Jordan Breen Show,” discussing his athleticism as a heavyweight:

“I think a lot of people talk about being an athletic heavyweight. A lot of people talk about being quick, fast, conditioned, all that kind of stuff. I don’t like talking about it. I like showing people in the cage. … You can say, ‘I’m the most athletic heavyweight.’ I don’t care because I’m going to prove you wrong. When we’re in that cage, I’m going to be quicker, I’m going to be faster and you’re going to be wondering what the heck just happened and how did the fight end that quickly. I’m an athlete first. Fighting is something that I’ve picked up. It’s a skill set that I’ve picked up, but first I’m an athlete. If you can do something in that cage, I can do it and I can do it better.”
