The fight has everyone talking -- and arguing.
Jon Jones retained his Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision over Alexander Gustafsson in the UFC 165 main event on Saturday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. “Bones” escaped with 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 marks from the judges, but he did not leave the cage unscathed this time.
Gustafsson cut him above the right eye in the first round, stuffed 10 of his 11 takedown attempts and landed 110 significant strikes against him in the grueling 25-minute battle. Both men were sent to the hospital afterward. It was a far cry from Jones’ previous one-sided title defenses against Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson.
