Zach Arnold Joins Press Row

By Jordan Breen Jan 1, 2014

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the blog. This week, Breen is joined by founder Zach Arnold.

New Year's Eve just passed and the only show the MMA show that the Japanese fight industry offered up was the anemic Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013 card. With this in mind, Breen and Arnold reflect on New Year's Eve in Japan and its crucial role in MMA history, recalling some of the greatest and strangest fights from Pride, K-1, Inoki and others and how combat sports came to occupy such an important part in Japan's biggest night of TV watching.

Breen and Arnold also get wistful about the pageantry of Dec. 31, the greatest individual NYE cards and some of date's most curious figures over the years, including Bob Sapp, Bobby Ologun, Hidehiko Yoshida, Yuji Nagata, Tadao Yasuda and more.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
