Dan Hardy Promises Tricks That Amir Sadollah Hasn’t Seen
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Dan Hardy, on “The Savage Dog Show,” discussing his UFC on Fuel TV 5 matchup against Amir Sadollah:
“All he’s seen in comparison to my previous fights is that I’ve got a little bit of head movement now and I’ve changed the color of my shorts. There’s not a lot to go off. I’ve got a lot of tricks that he hasn’t seen, he can’t prepare for, and they’re just going to get better between now and the fight. It’s going to be a rough night for him. I’m showing up to put on a performance in front of my home crowd and really send a statement out to the division that I’m a contender. I have got some skills and people are going to have to deal with them.”

Dan Hardy Disagrees with Not Engaging, But Doesn’t Favor Financial Penalties Either
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Dan Hardy, on “The Savage Dog Show,” explaining that even though he dislikes it when fighters won’t engage, he doesn’t think they should be penalized financially:
“The whole Pride system with the yellow and red cards, I don’t like it. I never liked it for the basic fact that it’s taking money out of fighters’ pockets and there isn’t a lot of money in the fighters’ pockets in the first place. Taking chunks out of it, that’s just unnecessary because we all work hard regardless of whether we come to fight for 25 minutes or run away for 25 minutes. There’s still a lot of hard work and a lot of bills that go into preparing for a fight. I never liked punishing financially. I don’t really know what the solution is. A lot of the time I think it’s on the fighters. I think the fighters have a responsibility to show up and perform.”

Probst: For Hardy, it Pays to be British
By: Jason Probst
Dan Hardy has a following. | Photo: Dave Mandel
With four consecutive losses, all in the UFC, Dan Hardy may be on the brink of a unique feat: the opportunity to string five defeats together before getting cut by the promotion.
Coming into his fight with Chris Lytle in the UFC Live 5 main event, two questions surrounded the Brit. First, would he be able to deliver the goods, and, second, if he failed to do so, would he be released? After losing via submission in the third round of an entertaining if not outstanding effort on Hardy’s part, Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Lorenzo Fertitta tweeted that Hardy would not be cut due to his entertaining style.
Life is not fair, and Hardy’s retention is precisely the result of two factors: the aforementioned style and, more importantly, his ability to draw fans in the U.K. If he were a more generic-type, say, another bent-ear wrestler from the Midwest or one of the endless stream of Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts, it would be a different story. Along with Michael Bisping, Hardy represents a meaningful anchor in the organization’s foothold on growing internationally.
Hardy is no slouch as a fighter, but there are a lot of guys who are not slouches and still bucking for a shot in the UFC.
If his next fight, for argument’s sake, against a Duane Ludwig-type turns into an epic and entertaining slugfest that he loses in thrilling fashion, do you let him go then or keep him by playing the but-he’s-a-fun-guy-to-watch card?
We will know precisely which direction the UFC is headed by how it matches Hardy next. A wrestler-type means it will be looking to cut bait and end the relationship. A standup guy means it still thinks it can get mileage out of “The Outlaw.”

Hardy: No Boos Expected against Lytle
By: Brian Knapp
Dan Hardy (Pictured) likes excitement. The 29-year-old Team Rough House standout will face Chris Lytle -- a five-time “Fight of the Night” winner -- in the UFC Live 5 main event on Sunday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. Considering the past history of the two participants, Hardy, during a pre-fight teleconference, said he believes the fans will get their money’s worth:
“I think this is the kind of fight that the fans want to see, and I’m not expecting to hear any boos at any point in the 15 minutes. It’s frustrating for me because I do this sport just because I love it. I love fighting. I love the competition. I love the risk-taking and the gamble in throwing punches at somebody, and two of my last three fights have been snoozefests. It’s been disappointing, and I just don’t like having boring fights. I mean, the Carlos Condit fight [at UFC 120] was good fun for the first, what, four minutes or so? And then I got clipped. I want fun fights, and, for me, Chris Lytle is the kind of guy that I can look up to and think he’s the kind of guy I want to fight like. I want to fight like this guy, so having the opportunity to actually share a main event with him is an honor. I know he’s going to bring it, I know he’s going to test me and I know that he’s going to come and try to win the fight, and that’s exactly what I want -- somebody who wants to get that paycheck and take it home.” -

One-Punch Hardy
By: Jake Rossen
Stephen Albanese/Tailstar.com
Oh, boy. In a blog post highlighted by Fighter’s Only, British welterweight Dan Hardy is offering up the idea he needs only “one shot” to dispatch champion Georges St. Pierre.
Hardy’s striking is nice and clean, and he’s been showing improvement in every bout. Even though he’s a significant underdog in the eyes of the linemakers, the fight is by no means a Tyson/McNeely bit of snuff. But one punch? What’s in the water in the UK that’s turning good fighters into delusional knockout artists?
Part of this bravado likely stems from GSP’s surprising beheading against Matt Serra in 2007, but Serra and Hardy have little in common. Being shorter in stature, Serra was able to use a powerful lower body to project more power behind his punch; St. Pierre, just like most of the audience, had little idea Serra’s striking had come such a long way under the guidance of Ray Longo. Bad combination -- literally and figuratively -- for the champ.
None of these factors are at play in the Hardy fight. I feel like we’re being fed an increasing bucket of slop to help justify a match that’s happening purely because St. Pierre has destroyed just about everyone else in the division. He’ll hold the title for as long as he cares to. And I think he cares too much to drop it to Hardy. Read more -
Backlash Begins: Koscheck Knocks Hardy’s Title Opportunity
By: Jake Rossen
If there are twelve steps to coping with Dan Hardy getting a title shot against Georges St. Pierre in 2010, Josh Koscheck is still somewhere around number one: denial.
Speaking to Heavy.com, Koscheck -- who lost to St. Pierre in 2007 and trains with Mike Swick, whom Hardy defeated last weekend -- discredited the opportunity, alleging that promoters are “just trying to get someone for St. Pierre to beat up.”
“He doesn’t deserve a title shot,” Koscheck said. “It’s simple, but I don’t make those decisions.”
