  • Beatdown: Wineland, Volkmann By: TJ De Santis

Lutfi Sariahmed returned to The Sherdog Radio Network for another edition of "Beatdown." Joining him were UFC Live 5 fighters Jacob Volkmann and former WEC bantanweight champion Eddie Wineland.

Coming off a loss to Urijah Faber in his UFC debut, Eddie Wineland looks to bounce back against another Team Alpha Male product in Joseph Benavidez. Wineland talks about the fight at hand, fighting in the UFC, and if he considers moving down to flyweight once the UFC offers the division.

Jacob Volkmann puts his undefeated lightweight record on the line Sunday when he faces up and comer Danny Castillo. The Minnesota Martial Arts Academy fighter breaks down his match with Castillo, his strategy going in to the bout, and his life outside of the cage as a chiropractor.

  • Wineland Breaks Down Brutal KO Slam By: Sherdog.com Staff

Eddie Wineland (Pictured), on “Beatdown,” discussing his knockout slam of Ken Stone:

“If a 145-pound guy is hanging on me, I can stand straight up, no problem. I’ve been in that position before and I’ve always thought about what I was going to do in a fight if I got in that position. … I didn’t just pick him up and drop him. It was a lot of hips and a lot of whiplash effect. He hit with his back flush. … I just took him for a ride, and he went out. Initially I was really happy. You get the knockout, and that’s what I wanted. I turned back around, and he was still lying there motionless. At that point it turned to concern. I walked up and asked if he was going to be OK. ‘Is everything all right?’ The only thing I heard the doctor say was get the backboard and [Advanced Life Support] now. I took a couple of steps back and let them do their job.”

    Hey Everybody!

Live radio returned to The Sherdog Radio Network Monday with new episodes of "The Savage Dog Show" and "Beatdown" radio programs.

Last Friday the MMA world went in to what was considered by most to be a slower weekend. That all changed when in an interview with MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani it was annoucned that Zuffa had purchased Strikeforce. Greg Savage and Jeff Sherwood try to make sense of it all on this episode of "The SDS." Both men share their thoughts on what the sale means for the sport as well as for fighters and fans alike.

On "Beatdown" Jack Encarnacao and myself share our thoughts and opinions on the same subject. We are also joined by former WEC Bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland. The former champion is set to make his UFC debut this weekend against Urijah Faber at UFC 128.
