Eddie Wineland: If You Want to Stay Pretty, Get Out of MMA
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Eddie Wineland, on “The Savage Dog Show,” discussing whether it bothers him that he’ll have a scar on his head for the rest of his life after beating Scott Jorgensen:
“Absolutely not. I’m a fighter. I’m a fighter. I’m a warrior. I chose my path. I know the consequences. I broke my jaw before. I’ve had cuts before. My brows are all banged up. My ears are all mangled. It comes with the territory. If you sign up for this sport wanting to stay pretty, you’d better just turn around and walk out the door. … He caught me with a good jab in the first round, and I was actually seeing double out of my right [eye]. It was kind of blurry. Then coming into the second round, my vision had kind of repaired itself and then he hit me with just a light hook. It didn’t even take much and I was blurry again. Then he busted me open with that knee. I’m dripping a little bit of blood in my left eye and I’m seeing double out of my right. I did the best I could to wipe the blood out of my left, and now I’m seeing three of him. They always say hit the one in the middle, and that was the right one to hit.”

Wineland Breaks Down Brutal KO Slam
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Eddie Wineland (Pictured), on “Beatdown,” discussing his knockout slam of Ken Stone:

“If a 145-pound guy is hanging on me, I can stand straight up, no problem. I’ve been in that position before and I’ve always thought about what I was going to do in a fight if I got in that position. … I didn’t just pick him up and drop him. It was a lot of hips and a lot of whiplash effect. He hit with his back flush. … I just took him for a ride, and he went out. Initially I was really happy. You get the knockout, and that’s what I wanted. I turned back around, and he was still lying there motionless. At that point it turned to concern. I walked up and asked if he was going to be OK. ‘Is everything all right?’ The only thing I heard the doctor say was get the backboard and [Advanced Life Support] now. I took a couple of steps back and let them do their job.” -

Live radio returned to The Sherdog Radio Network Monday with new episodes of "The Savage Dog Show" and "Beatdown" radio programs.
Last Friday the MMA world went in to what was considered by most to be a slower weekend. That all changed when in an interview with MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani it was annoucned that Zuffa had purchased Strikeforce. Greg Savage and Jeff Sherwood try to make sense of it all on this episode of "The SDS." Both men share their thoughts on what the sale means for the sport as well as for fighters and fans alike.
On "Beatdown" Jack Encarnacao and myself share our thoughts and opinions on the same subject. We are also joined by former WEC Bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland. The former champion is set to make his UFC debut this weekend against Urijah Faber at UFC 128.
