UFC Announces Grappling Superfights

The UFC on Tuesday made public its plans to host four grappling bouts at the 2010 UFC Fan Expo, which takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., on May 28 and 29.
“For grappling fans, this is an awesome opportunity to see some of the world’s best ground fighters compete against one another,” stated UFC President Dana White in a press release.
May 28 Bouts:
Shayna Baszler vs. Penny Thomas
Hermes Franca vs. Bill Cooper
May 29 Bouts:
Caol Uno vs. Fredson Paixao
Javier Vazquez vs. Jeff Glover
Seating for the bouts will be limited and handled on a first come, first served basis, according to the press release. Tickets for the two-day expo are on sale now at UFCFanExpo.com. Read more -
Vazquez: Takedown 'Mandatory' in Pulver Bout
Javier Vazquez is hoping a new camp and key takedowns will deliver him the victory in his featherweight bout against former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver this Saturday at WEC 47 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, who's been on the losing end of two split decision nods in the promotion, will hunt for the finish on the mat against Pulver, known for his potent left hand. "Showtime" talks strategy and what it will take to get his first win inside the WEC.
Vazquez also touches on his preparation since leaving Millenia Fight Team to work with Erik Paulson.

Vasquez-Davis Moved to WEC 42

Javier Vazquez will square off against IFL veteran L.C. Davis in a featherweight bout on Aug. 9 at WEC 42 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The bout had originally been scheduled to take place at Affliction “Trilogy” on Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif. However, Affliction cancelled the event on July 24.
Vazquez, a former King of the Cage and Gladiator Challenge champion, said the bout will kick off a five-fight contract he agreed to with the promotion on Thursday. -
