(PRESS RELEASE) -- Philadelphia, PA-MMA promoter Tara Galvin of Extreme Force Productions teams up with established
fighter/promoter Fran Evans, (Bentley Promotions) to give Philly fans the highest level of talent in MMA
than previously offered by local promoters. November 20th, the two promoters are hosting an event
“Locked in the Cage 1” at Alexander Hall in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
Featured fighters headlining are World Champions Tara LaRosa and Wilson Reis. “We are very fortunate
to have fighters of this caliber fighting for us. It is going to be a huge success. These fighters normally
fight on cards that air on television or pay-per-view. This event raises the bar for ourselves, not to
mention other promoters!” exclaims Tara Galvin.
Tara LaRosa, (17-1) Bodog World Champion, and Wilson Reis (8-1) Elite XC Champion, both are Philly
residents, and very eager to fight in their home town. “I’m very excited to fight in Philly-FINALLY! It
will be great to have my friends and family there to see me” says Tara LaRosa. Tara’s last fight was in
March 2009, and Tara is also preparing to participate in a reality TV similar to the Ultimate Fighter,
except with women fighters. (More information on Tara LaRosa can be found at www.taralarosa.net)
Wilson Reis (8-1), originally from Brazil has lived in the US for 8 years now. He is a black belt in
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and works as an instructor at several schools in the Philadelphia area. Wilson is very
much looking forward to fighting Dwayne Shelton, who fought his best friend a couple of years ago.
“Dwayne made fighting a black belt look easy…I am going to show him it is NOT going to be easy.” says
Wilson. Dwayne Shelton is undefeated in the 145 weight class.
We also have undefeated Timmy Williams (6-0) representing Team Balance making his pro debut
fighting Jamall Johnson, who has been training with UFC veterans at America Top team in Florida for the
past year. This is bound to be a great fight as well.
Another pro fight scheduled will be Philly’s own Tuan “Kid Thunder” Pham who has a very strong record
as an amateur and a pro record of 2-1, will be fighting Michigan’s Shawn Clay, making his pro debut with
a very strong amateur record behind him as well.
The amateur fight card is filled with fighters from Philadelphia’s premier MMA schools including Fight
Factory, Daddis Fight Camps, Revolution Academy, Maxercise, and Fight Firm to name a few. With that,
will come the history and the rivalry which is sure to make the event even more exciting.
About Extreme Force Productions/Bentley Promotions
Fran Evans, born and raised in the city of Philadelphia started his fighting career at very young age,
starting with boxing, and learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his teens. Fran has since been promoting fights in
DE, VA and now in Philly. “I’m very happy to be doing shows in my hometown. This is a dream come
true.”
Tara Galvin, participates in the sport as a hobby/workout routine. She wanted to get more involved with
promoting the sport with the hope of reaching out to troubled teenagers who could benefit from learning
MMA instead of hanging out in the street. “With the Extreme Force Productions debut event being the
very first Pro/Am MMA event in Philadelphia, and its huge success, I am determined to continue to give
the fans a fight card to remember. The main event, featuring Jeff Lentz and Dustin Pague was what most
people have told me “One of the best fights they have ever seen”. I want to provide that level of
excitement at all of my events. As a promoter, you have to give the audience a reason to attend Extreme
Force Production events as opposed to others. Many promoters want to make a quick buck and will send
just about anyone in the cage, showing favoritism to particular MMA schools. It is really a disgrace to
the sport, and is what has turned off many people off to boxing. Fran and I want to differentiate ourselves
from those characters by giving the fighters the opportunity to be matched with fair opponents, and by
giving the audience a chance to witness and action packed event; We have raised the bar, and fans that
are paying good money to see a fight, deserve to see a real MMA fight.”
Tickets for the event as well as more information can be found at www.extremeforce.tv Fighters
interested in participating in upcoming events can find the necessary forms. Extreme Force Productions
and Bentley look forward to bring MMA events not only to fans in Philadelphia, but to State College, PA,
Delaware and New Jersey.
