(PRESS RELEASE) -- USA East’s path to the semi-finals was the most dramatic, tying 2008 statistical second best Finland in the “Group C” bracket at 2-1 team wins, 10-15 overall and getting into the semis by merit of one of those team wins being over Finland.

Of the teams in the semis this was the worst record. USA West came into this match undefeated in team wins at 3-0 and tied with “Group D” winners Legion for individual wins at 13-2. With Dave Jansen signing to WEC Shane Del Rosario and Fabio Nascimento returned to USA West, joined by Joao Asis and Spencer Hooker in taking on their American rivals.

USA East cleverly designed their roster after West confirmed their own, picking individuals to overcome the statistical disadvantages. Grigsby dropped back down to light heavyweight and Marshbanks returned while Jorge, Heleno, and Dos Santos came aboard specifically to counter West. East’s strategy worked as only Marshbanks lost.

With this win USA East face Russia Legion in the finals December 3rd.
