X-1 WORLD EVENTS’ 'SCUFFLE ON SCHOFIELD: HOMEBOUND HEROES'
Thursday, November 12, 2009
(PRESS RELEASE) -- X-1 World Events, Hawaii’s premier fight promotion, presented “SCUFFLE ON SCHOFIELD II: HOMEBOUND HEROES” this past Saturday, November 7th, live from the Tropics Recreation Center on Schofield Barracks. The returning troops were treated to thirteen incredible MMA fights, and UFC superstar Chris Leben, a special guest of X-1, made an appearance as well. Approximately 2000 fans were in attendance that night for the event, and the atmosphere was truly special.

Many of these soldiers had recently returned from deployments in either Afghanistan or Iraq, and as one chaplain put it, “HOMEBOUND HEROES” gave the troops a big morale boost. Captain Chuck Lowman, chaplain of the 1-27 Infantry Unit, said that “seeing all of the different experience levels makes this exciting; I get pumped when someone really puts something into it.” Christine Young, Executive Director of X-1, added, “I love doing [events like] this. Many of the people here are so thankful to have us here, it makes it worthwhile.”

Fight schools such as 808 Fight Factory, 94 Block, Team MMAD, NorCal Fight Factory, I&I Training Center, and Chris Leben’s Ultimate Fight School were represented on the card. In addition, athletes from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps participated in “HOMEBOUND HEROES.” The main event of the fight card featured I&I’s Kurrent Cockett tangling with Team MMAD’s Matt Comeau with a shot at the X-1 State Featherweight belt at stake. The full results of the fight card are as follows:
