Noons, Diaz Dance in Showtime Spotlight

Showtime Spotlight

Nov 9, 2007
The latest and strongest EliteXC, airing Saturday on Showtime, features a study in the dichotomy of MMA. On one end of the spectrum you have several quality bouts featuring up-and-coming talent, and then of course there is the MMA debut of Kimbo Slice.

While the possibility of Nick Diaz (Pictures) and YouTube's fistic patriarch striking up a conversation on the evils of Yellow 5 intrigues me to no end, we can always take solace in the fights should such a meeting of the minds fail to materialize.

Headlining is Diaz against Karl James Noons (Pictures) for the vacant EliteXC lightweight title in a bout that will determine if Noons can break the curse of the PRIDE U.S. audition winners. Backing up the headliner is Kimbo's ballyhooed MMA debut and a welterweight tussle between Mike Pyle (Pictures) and Ambien spokesman Jake Shields (Pictures).

Yet more action awaits the eager MMA fan, so read on and ponder the influence of Klatuu on MMA, discover what Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" was really all about and maybe even accept Kimbo Slice as your savior. Or not. Just read the thing.
