Making the best out of a bad situation is hardly a good reason to put down hard earned cash for a pay-per-view, but considering the injuries and legal wrangling that have plagued UFC 72, I think we should cut Dana White & Co. a little slack.
The failure of the UFC to finalize an HBO deal in time and the switch from a SpikeTV broadcast to pay-per-view handcuffed the Zuffa-promoted card set for Belfast, Ireland; a string of injuries certainly didn't help matters.
While this card is hardly up to par with some of the UFC's upcoming pay-per-view events, we do get to see an important middleweight showdown, the return of everyone's favorite simian/mixed martial artist and a man with legs so large that they may be classified as weapons of mass destruction. Besides, everyone loves the Irish.
Interested yet? No? Not even a little bit? Well, I'm not supposed to say this but the UFC is on the verge of signing a super-fight between Irish alterna-rockers The Cranberries and a special local favorite. The contracts are all but signed and if you want to find out who the surprise band is, you'll find a hidden code in this preview that will send you on your way.
