Kyle Watson vs. John Makdessi


The Matchup: A bit of the old school here, with the dynamic and talented standup artist Makdessi taking on Watson, a skilled ground guy.

Makdessi made a splash in his big-show debut, pounding out a decision win over Pat Audinwood, displaying agility and creative strikes at UFC 124. Watson, a semifinalist on Season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” was eliminated from the reality series by eventual winner Jonathan Brookins

Watson has some standup, though he tends to leave his chin way too high when letting his strikes go. Watson’s ground game, particularly positioning and transitions, is smoother and more evolved. Makdessi has got to keep it standing and frustrate Watson with punishing strikes and counters.

The Pick: Flip a coin and call it in the air. Watson by decision or late submission.
