9. Joe Schilling vs. Melvin Manhoef

Schilling showed considerable resolve in his promotional debut, as he withstood a near-finish to stop the well-traveled and universally feared Manhoef in the second round of their battle at the Valley View Casino Center. Manhoef went out on his shield 32 seconds into Round 2.

The Dutch destroyer had Schilling teetering on the brink in the first round. There, Manhoef floored the Dayton, Ohio, native and swarmed for a stoppage. Referee Mike Beltran observed intently as Schilling weathered a ferocious assault and dodged a bullet -- several of them, in fact. Perhaps weakened by his effort to finish what he started, Manhoef allowed the decorated kickboxer back in the match.

Schilling staggered the Strikeforce, Dream and One Championship veteran with a standing elbow at the start of the middle stanza and followed up with a damaging knee to the body. Manhoef chose to fight fire with fire and let his hands go, only to be countered by a devastating two-punch combination. He was out cold before his head hit the mat.
