9. Siyar Bahadurzada vs. Evangelista Santos
Sengoku “Fifth Battle”
Sept. 28, 2008 | Tokyo

The fight took place in the opening round of the 2008 Sengoku middleweight grand prix at Yoyogi National First Gymnasium.

There was not much to it, aside from two leg kicks thrown by Evangelista Santos. One was caught, and Bahadurzada transitioned to a trip. Santos came down awkwardly on his arm, popping his elbow out of place. Though all he did was trip his opponent to the mat, Bahadurzada felt the need to climb the turnbuckle and celebrate as if he had conquered Mount Everest.

The injury did not signal the end for “Cyborg,” as he went on to compile a 3-4 record in seven subsequent appearances.
