Richard Goodman pulled off the evening's major upset, beating Bobby Gamboa by guillotine choke 3:14 of round one. After being cut on his forehead during a scramble, Gamboa went for and finished a double-leg takedown. However, he fell directly into a classic guillotine choke and, to the shock of his corner Colin Oyama and Quinton Jackson, was forced to tapout.
In other action, Dave Rivas earned a hard-fought unanimous decision over Dave Hisquerdo. Joe Crilly tapped overmatched Paul Cid with strikes, 1:26 of round one. Joe Freeny outlasted Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt John De Lao, winning by knockout at the 3:14 mark of the opening period. Tony Petarra crushed Ron Cushen, scoring a TKO 1:30 of round one. Thomas Kenny out-gassed and out-skilled George Perriera to win by decision after two rounds. Frankie Bohlinger TKO'd Billy Sanders 1:40 into the fight. J.R. Perea tapped Harry Rogers with a guillotine choke 57 seconds after the opening bell. Manny Tapia needed just seven seconds to knockout Michael Welty. Jake Gomez took twice as long, scoring a 15-second KO of Michael Petarra. Tony Bergo made Gary Mendoza tapout to strikes, 1:19 of round one.
