Fitch was all over “Mr. International” from the start, as he took him down, controlled him and punched whenever the mood arose. As the fight wore on, Carter’s gas tank ran dry to the point of absolute exhaustion. Early in the third round, he could barely move, and when Fitch slammed him hard on his back, Carter immediately tapped out. A victorious Fitch climbed off, and Carter rolled onto his hands and knees.
Ringside commentators thought the slam had injured Carter. That was not the case. Carter instead had vomited all over the mat. The event was delayed for some 20 minutes because the organizers could not find a custodian to clean up the mess.
