Islam Makhachev faces a high-risk-low-reward proposition as he makes his way toward what seems like an inevitable title shot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight division.

The once-beaten sambo stylist will take on former King of the Cage champion Bobby Green in the UFC Fight Night 202 headliner on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Makhachev carries a nine-fight winning streak into the match. The American Kickboxing Academy representative last competed at UFC 267, where he submitted Dan Hooker with a kimura in the first round of their Oct. 30 pairing. Green, meanwhile, replaces the injured Beneil Dariush on short notice and enters the cage on the strength of back-to-back victories. He last fought on Feb. 12, when he laid claim to a unanimous decision over Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271.

As Makhachev and Green approach their five-round main event at a 160-pound catchweight, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

30: Years of age for Makhachev, who was born on Sept. 27, 1991 in Makhachkala, Russia.

10: Makhachev victories by submission, accounting for 48% of his career total (21). His methods of choice: four triangle chokes, two armbars, two rear-naked chokes, one arm-triangle choke and one kimura. Makhachev owns three other victories by knockout or technical knockout and eight more by decision.

24: Takedowns executed by Makhachev since he joined the UFC roster in 2015, putting him eighth on the organization’s active list for lightweights. He trails only Clay Guida (59), Rafael dos Anjos (45), Frankie Edgar (42), Jim Miller (37), Joe Lauzon (34), Gregor Gillespie (27) and the aforementioned Dariush (26).

30: Seconds needed for Makhachev to punch out Tengiz Khuchua at an M-1 Global event on Feb. 12, 2011. Having occurred more than a decade ago, it remains the fastest finish on his 22-fight resume.

.700: Cumulative winning percentage between the nine opponents—Dan Hooker, Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, Davi Ramos, Arman Tsarukyan, Kajan Johnson, Gleison Tibau, Nik Lentz and Chris Wade—Makhachev has beaten during his current tear. They sport a combined record of 196-81-3.

35: Years of age for Green, who was born in San Bernardino, California, on Sept. 9, 1986.

10: Green wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 34% of his career total (29). His list of victims includes Al Iaquinta, James Krause and Charles Bennett. Green owns eight other wins by submission and 11 more by decision.

1,404: Significant strikes landed by Green as a UFC lightweight, placing him first on the promotion’s all-time list at 155 pounds. He ranks ahead of Evan Dunham (1,225), John Makdessi (1,137), Donald Cerrone (1,127) and Dustin Poirier (1,101).

76: Rounds completed by Green as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on 20 different occasions and carries an 11-8-1 record in those bouts.

236: Combined victories between the 12 men—Poirier, Moises, Rafael Fiziev, Francisco Trinaldo, Drakkar Klose, Rashid Magomedov, Edson Barboza, Gesias Cavalcante, Tim Means, David Mitchell, Dan Lauzon and Josh Gaskins—who have defeated Green. They boast a cumulative winning percentage of .740 (236-79-4).
