TERESOPOLIS, Brazil, Aug. 4 -- Beautiful submissions, awesome knockouts and balanced fights punctuated the fourth Fury FC card, which left a bitter taste for Brazil in the main event when a Frenchman stole the party.

The main attraction of the night had local fighter Fabricio Monteiro (Pictures) facing Frenchman Mohamed Khacha (Pictures), a competitor out of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva's Black House gym.

Overwhelmed on the feet, Monteiro was forced to pull his adversary to the guard, where the Gordo Jiu-Jitsu fighter tried to work underneath. After a brief return to the feet, Monteiro nearly finished the fight with a Kimura, but the bell sounded and the Frenchman was saved.

In the second round, Monteiro landed a takedown before taking Khacha's back and connecting on a series of punches. Surprisingly, Khacha escaped and secured top position, from where he landed hard blows on Monteiro during the fight's finishing sequence, much to astonishment of the crowd.

Also on the card was the continuation of Fury's 183-pound tournament.

Fabio Nascimento "Negão" (Lotus MMA) faced Leandro Batata (Nova União) in a very hard fight. The first round was balanced, with some advantage for the Nova União' fighter, who applied a takedown and some good punches in the final minutes.

Batata continued by moving forward while on the feet before losing balance after an attempted knee strike that resulted in him getting taken down.

"Negão" controlled the fight by mounting Batata and taking his back. The fight was decided by a series of punches that compelled the referee to interrupt the combat.

One of the most anticipated bouts of the night finished with a quick outcome when Rousimar Palhares "Toquinho" (BTT) faced Flavio Moura (Gordo JJ).

With a beautiful takedown "Toquinho" took his adversary to the ground. Mount position and an attempted armbar soon followed, but Moura resisted and escaped.

While trying to resist a leg lock, Moura applied some kicks to the BTT athlete. The kicks were illegal and the referee paused the contest to warn the fighter with a yellow card. Feeling a lot of pain in the knee, Moura couldn't come back and finished tapping out, delivering the victory to the rising young BTT representative.

The first fight for the 183-pound tournament was the least exciting of the night. A late substitute for Eduardo Pamplona (Pictures), Andre Mikito (De La Riva) faced Juliano Belgine (Brasa) and for an even fight.

Connecting good strikes on the feet couple with good takedowns, Mikito opened an advantage throughout the rounds. Belgine still reacted in the final minutes, when he connected with good strikes and took his adversary down. This reaction, however, was not enough to swing the advantage of Mikito, who won a unanimous decision.

"I was called last hour," said Mikito. "I promise the next time to present myself better and make a great fight."

At the conclusion of the event, Fury FC announced that the final phase of the 183-pound tournament was scheduled for December 6 in São Paulo. Andre Mikito, Daniel Acacio (Pictures), Rousimar "Toquinho" and Fabio "Negão" are the athletes who still are in contention for the title.

Danilo Cherman (Pictures) (Nova União) did not find himself in the dispute against Rafael dos Anjos (Gordo JJ). Better on the feet, dos Anjos showcased good strikes and worked well on the top when the fight went to the ground. The second round followed the same pattern until the Gordo JJ's athlete locked on a Kimura and forced Cherman to tapout.

Jair "Sorriso" (Nova União) awoke the crowd when he defeated Thiago Medeiros (Black House) in the fastest fight of the night. Sorriso ran over his adversary, connected on a good right hand before knocking down Medeiros. The referee interrupted the fight after several punches in the ground-and-pound -- everything in only 12 seconds.
