How to Watch DWCS 2023, Week 5

Ben DuffySep 05, 2023

Its parent promotion may be in the middle of a world tour, but Dana White's Contender Series remains bucked down in Las Vegas, searching for the next wave of Ultimate Fighting Championship stars and contenders.

The five matchups that comprise DWCS 2023, Week 5 run nearly the full gamut of modern weight classes, from the women’s flyweight curtain-jerker featuring Rainn Guerrero and Dione Silva Barbosa de Lima, all the way to the light heavyweight closer pitting Bruno Lopes against Brendson Ribeiro. The 30-year-old Lopes stands out as the brightest prospect of the bunch; at 11-0 with nine finishes and the Legacy Fighting Alliance light heavyweight title to his name, he will likely enter the Octagon as a 5-to-1 or greater favorite over Ribeiro. “Brunao” can even claim a 2014 win over current UFC middleweight contender Gregory Rodrigues that, while it bears little or no relevance to their current abilities, can certainly do no harm to Lopes’ confidence as he seeks to follow “RoboCop” to the UFC.

DWCS 2023, Week 5 takes place on Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams live to ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
