Paige VanZant Expects to be Back in 6 Months Following Arm Injury
Paige
VanZant is currently on the mend after suffering a broken arm
in her last fight inside the Octagon against Jessica-Rose
Clark at UFC Fight Night 124 back in January.
VanZant (7-4) suffered the break early in the fight -- her first at 125 pounds -- but ended up losing the bout by unanimous decision.
After the contest, VanZant shared the x-ray via Twitter of the
nasty break which required surgery, a plate and screws to hold the
bone in place while it heals.
“12 Gauge” recently talked with TMZ about her recovery and how she is busy keeping fit for a return later in the year (via MMAJunkie.com):
“I have a plate and seven screws in there -- it’s still broken. Three months until I’m back punching with my right hand. Six months -- I know I’ll have a fight in six months, and that’s guaranteed. I’m working with the UFC. I’m keeping myself in amazing shape, so all it is is working on my right.
“I’m really excited to get back in there. I’m staying in good shape, and I’m going to be knocking people out. I feel like I’m still in that title contention spot in the 125 division. I know everybody calls me out, so we’ll just pick somebody from the list and take ’em out.”
It hasn’t been all bad news for the former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, as she recently announced via Instagram that she got engaged to her boyfriend Austin Vanderford, who’s also a professional fighter.
