LONDON -- A capacity crowd watched just two fights reach the second round Saturday during Cage Rage Contenders 10 at The Troxy.

In the main event, heavyweights Denniston Sutherland (Pictures) and Mark Buchanan (Pictures) engaged in a battle that seemed to be too close to call after the first round. Buchanan landed some heavy leg kicks in the beginning, but it soon went to the ground, where Sutherland took top position. In the second round, Sutherland came out with a crisp combination of punches to drop his opponent before taking control on the mat and patiently working his ground-and-pound. After several hammer fists forced Buchannan to turtle up, the match was called to a halt at 4:48 of the second round.

Debuting Steve O'Rouke took a big scalp when he knocked out Nigel Whittear in just 40 seconds of the first round after a brief exchange of blows in the center of the cage.

This followed an all-out, toe-to-toe war between Steve Dosset and Jake Bostwick (Pictures) in the light heavyweight division. Both men traded leg kicks early before Bostwick rained down shots only to see Dosset retaliate with interest. As the fighters clinched, Bostwick broke his hand throwing a powerful hook and tapped out due to the injury at 1:04 of round one.

Brett Bassett (Pictures) made short work of late-replacement Jamaine Facey, scoring a knockout at 25 seconds of the opening round.

Kym Farid (Pictures) put in one of his best performances to date with a second-round knockout over Danny Cubbitt. In the first round, both landed strikes and had periods of attack on the mat, but it wasn't until the second that Farid's power came through. Cutting Cubbitt with an elbow, Farid took his man down and finished with some brutal ground-and-pound for the win at 47 seconds of round two.

Mark Smith got back to winning ways with a 50-second submission win over the ever game Jay Gilbey (Pictures). After scoring a takedown from the clinch, Smith calmly sunk in the guillotine for the victory.

Richard Griffin (Pictures) took on Deano Durrant in a welterweight bout and, after getting rocked early, recovered to clinch and work for a rear-naked choke at 1:23 of round one.

Piotr Doktor Kusmierz made his heavyweight debut with a bang, forcing Anton Schutte to submit due to strikes at 1:25 of the first round.

Billy Mahoney choked out Rob Johnson in just under a minute after a blazing start that ended on the mat with Mahoney sinking in the rear-naked choke for the win.

In other matches, Irving Daniels defeated Pacer Allen via tap out to an injured knee in 23 seconds. … Chris Greig (Pictures) defeated Swajaunas Siaucila via referee stoppage after some ground-and-and-pound at 1:41 … Alex Harvey defeated Jody Cottham (Pictures) via rear-naked choke at 1:48. … Jack Mason (Pictures) took an unappealing disqualification win over Mamarizaev Jahongir (Pictures) after a number of illegal downward elbows to the back of the head.
