The Walkmen: UFC on Fox 22

The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, on Saturday was the site of UFC on Fox 22, an event headlined by a strawweight battle between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. It also marked the final time the MMA world saw hometown hero Urijah Faber compete in the cage, as “The California Kid” called it a career after taking on Brad Pickett.

The assortment of walkout songs that brought the fighters to the cage was as varied as the combatants themselves. VanZant chose Flo Rida’s “My House” ahead of the main event, while Waterson went with Avicii’s “Feeling Good” in representing the Jackson-Wink MMA camp for the second time inside the Octagon. Of course, Tupac’s “California Love” trumpeted Faber’s arrival.

Other standout tracks included Amon Amarth’s “The Hero” (Alex Morono), Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” (Eddie Wineland), Sublime’s “Scarlet Begonias” (Leslie Smith), Aerosmith’s “Eat the Rich” (Mizuto Hirota), Poison’s “Nothing but a Good Time” (Scott Holtzman) and Dr. Dre’s “Keep Their Heads Ringin’” (Colby Covington). Meanwhile, Mickey Gall needed two anthems -- Toni Basil’s “Hey Mickey” and Skillrex and Rick Ross’ “Purple Lamborghini” -- to get to the cage.
