This was about as eventful as any weigh in, and unfortunately there was no
Matt Lindland giving a complimentary T-shirt to
Phil Baroni. No Chuck showing Tito the birds or Tito claiming "let the beatings begin" to Ken Shamrock.
The weigh ins are pretty relaxed at the WEC.
Gil Castillo got there early and claimed he had to be somewhere so someone weigh him in. Got on the scale and was gone in ten minutes. Then shortly after that it was a mad rush for those that were there to get on the scale. Here are some of the main players weights.
Rafael Del Real (238) vs. Mike Serr (274)
Olaf Alfonso (153) vs. Gilbert Melendez (155)
Shonie Carter (177) vs. Karo Parisyan (180)
Poppies Martinez (153) vs. Gabriel Cruz (154)
A few interesting comments heard throughout the weigh ins.
(Karo) "There is a lot of pressure on me for this fight since I lost my last UFC fight".
(Shonie) "I want to make movies". Also "I want to have my own doll like Quinton Jackson".
(Steibling) "I took Joe Riggs for granted and paid for it it will never happen again"!
(Melendez) Someone saying to him. I hear you are bad yourself. "We will see tomorrow".
(Riggs) "I just like to fight"!
One note WEC is awaiting on a phone call from Paul Herrera to let them know if Joe Petrizilli (Colorado) Wrestler Air force will take the fight with Joe Riggs. Riggs has already verbally committed and weighed in tonight at 205. Joe has been down at the HB training center working out with those guys.
Gates open at 5PM fights start at 6PM. Get there early as The Palace is going through some major construction and parking is tough.
