Ken Shamrock, Kimbo Slice Tested Positive for Anabolic Steroids at Bellator 149

Earlier this month, news emerged that both Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice tested positive for banned substances following their bouts at Bellator 149. Now, information has surfaced regarding the exact nature of the failed drug tests.

Sherdog.com on Monday received laboratory results from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in response to a records request submitted on March 2. According to the documents, Shamrock and Slice were flagged for elevated testosterone/epitestosterone levels, and both tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone.

Testosterone/epitestosterone levels are reported as elevated by the lab when the result is greater than 4:1. Shamrock tested higher than three times the allowed limit at 12:1, while Slice’s results were greater than than 6:1.

The documents also reveal that Shamrock tested positive for the opioid methadone, with reported levels of 370 nanograms per milliliter. The threshold for a positive test is 300 ng/ml.

Shamrock was stopped by Royce Gracie in the first round of their headlining encounter at Bellator 149, which took place Feb. 19 in Houston, Texas. Slice -- whose real name is Kevin Ferguson -- was victorious over Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris via third-round knockout.

Gracie and Harris were among a list of six additional fighters who were tested and cleared at Bellator 149. Also tested were Emmanuel Sanchez, Daniel Pineda, Richard Knepp and Juan Torres.

Tristen Critchfield contributed to this report.
