10 Bouts Official for UFC Fight Night 22

American Top Team’s Yves Edwards will meet International Fight League veteran John Gunderson in a lightweight duel at UFC Fight Night 22 on Wednesday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Ten bouts are now official for the event, which will air live on Spike TV.

Edwards, who has not competed inside the UFC in more than four years, has won four of his last five fights. The 33-year-old Bahamian last fought in August, when he defeated Luis Palomino by unanimous decision at Bellator 24 in Hollywood, Fla. A potent finisher, Edwards has secured 30 of his 38 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Wins over former Strikeforce lightweight titleholder Josh Thomson, one-time World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight champion Hermes Franca (twice) and former two-division Deep kingpin Dokonjonosuke Mishima anchor his lengthy resume.

Gunderson has held titles inside the Sportfight and Ring of Fire promotions. The 31-year-old Houston native posted his first victory inside the Octagon in June, when he outpointed Mark Holst en route to a unanimous decision at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale in Las Vegas. Gunderson has delivered more than half (16) of his 23 career wins by submission. In 32 professional appearances, he has never been knocked out.

A pivotal middleweight showdown pairing former title contender Nate Marquardt with leglock connoisseur Rousimar Palhares will headline UFC Fight Night 22, along with a lightweight tilt pitting “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Efrain Escudero against the unbeaten Charles Oliveira. Other fights greenlit for the event include lightweight duels matching American Top Team’s Cole Miller against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner Ross Pearson and AMA Fight Club standout Jim Miller against fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Gleison Tibau.
