12-Fight Lineup Finalized for UFC 131

“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 11 quarterfinalist Nick Ring will
meet promotional newcomer James Head in
a preliminary middleweight matchup at UFC 131 “Lesnar vs. Dos
Santos” on June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada. The UFC has finalized a 12-bout lineup for the
event, which will air live on pay-per-view.
Unbeaten in 11 professional appearances, Ring (Pictured; file photo) made his Octagon debut at UFC 127 in February, when he notched a controversial and widely panned unanimous decision over Riki Fukuda at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, the 32-year-old has secured seven of his 11 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission, six of them inside one round.
Ring was forced to withdraw from Season 11 of “The Ultimate
Fighter” after suffering a knee injury.
Head last competed at Xtreme Fight Night 2 in February, when he defeated UFC veteran Gerald Harris by unanimous decision at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla. On a two-fight winning streak, the Highland, Ill., native suffered his only career defeat in 2009, when he was outpointed by “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 alum Jesse Forbes. Head trains out of Lovato’s School of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts in Oklahoma City.
A heavyweight title eliminator pairing Brock Lesnar with Brazilian knockout artist Junior dos Santos will headline UFC 131, along with a showdown between former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin and grappling guru Jon Olav Einemo. The event will also feature a lightweight duel pairing “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 6 winner Mac Danzig with WEC import Donald Cerrone, a middleweight battle pitting former title contender Demian Maia against 2001 NCAA wrestling champion Mark Munoz and a featherweight tilt matching Kenny Florian with the world-ranked Diego Nunes.
