Welterweight prospect Sage Northcutt’s next fight will be on the big stage.
After Northcutt dispatched veteran foe Rocky Long via second-round submission at Legacy Fighting Championship 44on Friday night, it was announced that the 19-year-old fighter had signed with the UFC. He is expected to make his promotional debut against an as-yet-to-be-announced opponent at UFC 192, which takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Oct. 3.
Northcutt is 5-0 since making his professional debut in November 2014. Four of those triumphs have come under the Legacy FC banner. The Katy, Texas, native went past the opening stanza for the first time in his career against Long before forcing his foe to tap out to a neck crank at the 3:30 mark of round two.
Northcutt’s expected appearance at UFC 192 will be his fifth appearance of 2015. All told, Northcutt has competed in 11 documented amateur and professional bouts since April 2013.
