4 Fights Signed for MFC 28

Thomas Denny (left) | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com

Veteran Thomas Denny will square off against prospect Sheldon Westcott on the main card of MFC 28, going down Feb. 25 from the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The welterweight matchup was added to the card Wednesday by MFC officials, and was announced via press release. This now makes four contests scheduled for the event, which will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Dwayne Lewis and Ryan Jimmo. Also scheduled for the event is a lightweight bout featuring Kajan Johnson and Richie Whitson, as well as a 205-pound tilt pitting Razak Al-Hassan against Rodney Wallace in a battle of UFC veterans.

Denny began his career in 1999 and has 45 career bouts to his credit. A veteran of SuperBrawl, Shooto and King of the Cage, Denny competed in his only WEC bout in 2006, dropping a unanimous decision to “TUF” alum Alex Karalexis at WEC 23. “Wildman” competed briefly for EliteXC in 2008 but was knocked out by Nick Diaz in his second fight with the promotion. Later that year, Denny would again lose by knockout, this time to fellow veteran Pat Miletich at Adrenaline MMA 2. The Californian's last outing came against Joe Cronin in August of 2009. Denny submitted his opponent with a guillotine choke in the second round.

Westcott rides a four-fight winning streak heading into his bout with Denny. A veteran of MFC and the promotion's feeder league, Heat XC, Westcott has finished all four of his career victims. The welterweight was most recently victorious at AMMA 4 in July, submitting Simon Marini with a guillotine choke. After dropping his pro debut in a 2007 split decision, Westcott has finished each of his subsequent opponents in the first round.
