The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Aug. 23 visit to Oklahoma continues to fill out, as Aaron Phillips will take on Matt Hobar in a bantamweight bout.
UFC officials announced the card’s new addition on Sunday. UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. dos Anjos” will take place at BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and will be headlined by former lightweight champ Benson Henderson and contender Rafael dos Anjos. The event will also include a welterweight scrap between Thiago Alves and Jordan Mein.
Phillips will be making his second appearance inside the Octagon following a decision loss to Sam Sicilia at UFC 173 in May. The defeat was the first of Phillips’ professional career, after wins in four separate independent promotions. “The Model” will be dropping from 145 to 135 pounds for the matchup.
Hobar is also coming off a loss in his UFC debut. The Legacy Fighting Championship veteran was finished by Pedro Munhoz at “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3” finale in May. “The Crowbar” is a citizen of nearby Dallas and will likely have some local support when the card takes place.
